Consensus All-American football tackle for Tulane university in 1941. Drafted by the NFL Philadelphia Eagles but chose the Navy and served in WWII in the Marshall Islands and Hawaii. Member of the championship 1946 and 1947 AAFC Cleveland Browns. Volunteered to transfer to Baltimore in 1948 to help the upstart Colts. Recovered two fumbles in 1950. Inducted into the New Orleans Sports Hall of Fame in 1987, and also into the Tulane sports hall of fame.
