Gladys Wingate Stark, 92, of Pelham, formerly of Barwick, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2009, at Pelham Parkway Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. Born in Mitchell County, she was a daughter of James Lumpkin and Alma Hatcher Wingate. She was owner/operator of Barwick Café and a member of Barwick Baptist Church.
She is survived by a niece; Janice (Mark); nephew, Ray; great-niece, Shannon (Mark); great-nephew, Russell (Brenda); and many other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Stark, brothers, Clyde Wingate, C.T. Wingate, Clayton Wingate, Leonard Wingate, R.J. Wingate, and sisters, Emmie C. Vines, Birdie Cleveland, Katherine Tyson and Evelyn Jarrell.
