Mrs. Violet C. Youhas, 98, of Box 70, Altoona RR 4, died Tuesday, October 16, 2001, at Altoona Hospital Center for Nursing Care. She was born June 29, 1903, in Juniata Gap, Altoona, a daughter of Sherwood and Irene (Burkhart) Maurer. She married Charles Youhas, who preceded her in death on April 21, 1986. She was a member of Mardorf United Methodist Church, Juniata Gap. Mrs. Youhas enjoyed crocheting. Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. Avalon Strawmyre and husband, Kay, of Fairless Hills, and Mrs. Alice Walters of Altoona; sister, Alice Holton of Altoona; two brothers: Leon Maurer in Ohio and Cecil Maurer of Hollidaysburg; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m Thursday Oct. 18, 2001 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home Inc., Juniata, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Edward J. Preston officiating. Interment in Grandview Cemetery.
