Born Aug. 12, 1916 in Millhousen, she was the daughter of Ben and Mary (Butz) Kohrman. She married Jesse Tompkins in 1938, and he preceded her in death in 1973.
She married Denzel Gabbard on Aug. 18, 1981, in Greensburg, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1987.
She was a salesperson at G. C. Murphy for 25 years until her retirement on March 17, 1979. She was a member of the St. Mary's Church.
She is survived by three daughters, Clara (Mrs. Richard) Glass of Hazelhurts, Miss., Linda (Mrs. Willard) Dashiell of Greensburg, and Sandra (Mrs. Richard) Holman of Greensburg; one son, James Tompkins of Tacoma, Wash.; one brother, Clements Kohrman of Sandusky; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Bernard Kohrman, William Kohrman, and Irvin Kohrman; and three sisters, Clara Young, Bernetta Petty, and Marie Idlewine.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greensburg, with the Rev. Steve Schaftlein officiating.
Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. Friday at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg, with a Rosary at 7 p.m.
