After the death of his brother Theodore, Aaron went before the County Court of Logan County, Lincoln, Illinois on January 20, 1879 and obtained Letters of Guardianship of Harry Samuel Harcourt and Charles Theodore Harcourt Theodore's two infant sons. Their mother Nancy Jane Coleman Harcourt who remarried and became Nancy Jane Roberts had also passed away on February 20, 1878.

The other child Minnie May Harcourt married William Dawson on November 17, 1885. She no longer was to receive a pension as she reached 16 years of age on the 16th day of June 1880. When Charles attained the age of 16 on June 9, 1885
all pension payments were to cease for all the children.

Enlisted on August 1, 1862 at Salt Creek as a Private in Company "E" 106 Regiment Illinois Infantry. Lincoln, Illinois at the age of 23 years. Was in the hospital July and August 1863 at Helena, Arkansas. He was mustered out of
the service at Pine Bluff, Arkansas, on July 12, 1865.

In his pension application he sets forth that he was married to Mary Jane Skeen
on February 7, 1866 at Chestnut Hill, Illinois. That he had one child Calla
Harcourt born October 17, 1866.
