ALFRED LEROY BLANCHARD, 79, died Feb. 10, 1997, at his home in Colorado Springs. He was retired from Clover Club of Colorado Springs and had also worked for Decker and Son.

The funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church, 1712 S. Corona St., with the Rev. Dick Stephens officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, with Ret. Chaplain Curt Blanchard officiating. Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, is handling arrangements.

Mr. Blanchard was born May 15, 1917, in Russellville,

Ky., to Roy David and Cora E. (Smotherman) Blanchard, who are deceased.

He was married June 18, 1939, in Sulfur Springs, Texas, to Susie (Hughes) Blanchard, who lives in Colorado Springs.

He is also survived by a son, Mike of Colorado Springs; two daughters, Ann Hoeschen of Colorado Springs and Gail McMillan of Seattle; three brothers, Charles of Colorado Springs, Curtis of Tucson, Ariz., and Gilbert of Hamilton, Ohio; a sister, Roberta of Dayton, Ohio; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Thurman and a sister, Martyne.

Mr. Blanchard served in the Navy during World War II. He was very proud of his five grandsons and was loved by his family, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed the Colorado mountains.

He had lived in Colorado Springs since 1965.
