KINGERY, JOHN - John's father, Michael 1752-1832/33, migrated to Ohio from Virginia about 1801 and built the first mill in the area of Greenfield. He married Margaret Ulery on 29 Sep 1822 in Madison Co., and had Samuel 1824-1884, William J. 1834, Hester T. 1836-1883 and Newton 1838-. These are the only known children of John and Margaret's.
After her death in 1852, John remarried to Sarah Bidlack in 1853. After the death of John, she was found in census records of 1860-1870 among relatives not consistant with Kingery's, but of the Bidlack family. She passed in 1877 as indicated. Sarah's marriage to John occured 22 Feb 1853 in Paulding Co., and this union produced no children. John was listed as one of three of the first doctors in Paulding County. John Kingery was a Pioneer, as he moved to Brown Twp., Paulding Co., Ohio about 1828.
John Kingery wasn't only a Pioneer and Farmer, but also a Doctor, Shoe-Maker, as well as being elected the first County Commissioner and Justice of the Peace in 1830. One pair of "fine" shoes he made sold for 62 1/2 cents in 1845. Turnips had sold for 10 cents for 1/2 bushel and potatoes cost 25 cents per half bushel.
