Civic leader. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was for several years an engineer at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. In 1956 he purchased Oxley Drug in downtown Southington and ran the landmark business until selling it to his pharmacist, Raymond Derynioski, in 1978. In addition to being known as one of downtown Southington's most popular business leaders, he was a notable athlete in his youth. Elected to the Cheshire Academy Hall of Fame in his later years, he received three varsity letters in football, track and basketball at Yale University. He earned a degree in engineering from Yale and later from the School of Pharmacy at the University of Connecticut. He was a former member of the Board of Tax Review and served on the Southington Board of Education from 1982 to 1983.
