Maggie Blessing, 95, of the Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny but formerly of the Saint Anthony and Knoxville areas, died late Saturday evening, Oct. 13, in Ankeny. Death was attributed to complications of a stroke.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tim Murtaugh officiating. Friends may call at the Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home after 4 p.m. Monday. A memorial fund has been established.

Born Jan. 7, 1895, in Schuyler County, Missouri, she was the daughter of Temple Cole and Minnie Wood Byrn. She received her education in the area of her birth.

On Sept. 3, 1915, she married Guy Henry Blessing in Memphis, Mo. They later moved to the Marshalltown area. She was a member of the Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1984, a son, a daughter in infancy, a sister and two daughters.

She is survived by a daughter, Evelyn (Mrs. Jack) Lester of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; two sisters, Alta (Mrs. Robert) Kirk of Zearing and Letta Leonard of Sterling, Ill.
