Martha Jane Keeney always went by her middle name, Jane, or Janie when she was young. She was the first of four children born to Vaderon 'Bud' Keeney and Ida 'Beth' Landon. Her father missed much of her early years as he served in the Navy through out World War II. She graduated from North Eugene High School in 1961. She married Mohammad 'Mark' Bassir on February 26, 1966 in Carson City, Nevada. They had two children. Jane divorced Mark and came to Hillsboro, Oregon with her children in 1971. On January 19, 1973, she married James David Person in Cherry Grove, Oregon. They had one son together, James Jr., and raised their family on a farm near Cherry Grove, Oregon.

Jane was an accomplished pianist and organist. She sometimes played at church and taught piano lessons. She enjoyed sewing and knitting. She led a 4-H group in home-ec. for a time. She also enjoyed gardening and canning as well as cooking meals and treats for her family. The best cookies I ever tasted were made by my mom. She recently enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She held dress-up tea parties for the girls and often took the children on walks to throw rocks in the river.

Mom suffered from a bipolar disorder that greatly affected her throughout much of her life. She sometimes behaved strangely and said things that were not true. It often left myself and others confused, frustrated and embarrassed. But despite her illness Jane was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, and friend. She will be greatly missed.

My mother passed away peacefully yet very unexpectedly in her sleep at home.

Jane was proceeded in death by her son, John Bassir. At the time of her passing she was survived by her parents, husband, 2 children, and 5 grandchildren.
