Ezra Dewey 97, the oldest person in Westfield, Massachusetts, died Friday night at the home of his brother T.J. Dewey on East Silver Street. Mr. Dewey was born in Westfield, July 20, 1812. As a young man he went west and lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He also conducted a farm for some years in Indiana. He was a carpenter by trade. Returning to Westfield about 20 years ago, he made his home with his brother.
Mr. Dewey was recently presented with a gold headed cane by a Boston paper as being the oldest man in Westfield. He had been sick with the grip about 10 days. Besides his brother T.J. Dewey, he leaves two sons in the west. The funeral will be private.
