A message received from Dallas announced the death of G.W. Blakeney, former well known resident of Paris in that city at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon. He had been an invalid for several months and had been seriously ill for a month prior to his death. He was about seventy years old and was born in South Carolina, where he lived until he reached manhood and served in the Confederate Army, enlisting from his native state. He came to Texas soon after the close of the war and located at Ladonia, where he married Miss Pet Weldon. After a long residence there he moved to Paris and resided here about eight years. He then moved to Dallas, which city continued to be his home up to the time of his death. He is survived by his wife and four sons, one of whom, Hooks Blakeney, lives in Hugo and Marvin, Frank and Leonard Blakeney in Dallas. He was a man of considerable wealth and was a Director in the City National Bank of Paris up to the 1st of January this year. He was interested in banks at DeKalb, Hugo, Fort Towson, Idabel and Soper, Oklahoma and in several banking institutions in Dallas. The remains will be brought to Paris on the 12:50 Frisco train this afternoon accompanied by members of the family, and will be taken to the home of Neville Brooks on Bonham street, where the funeral services will be held on arrival, conducted by Revs. J.L. Morris of Dallas and M.L. Hamilton of Paris. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery by the side of a son and a daughter.

G.H. Blakeney received word Saturday afternoon that his father, G.W. Blakeney, had died suddenly in Dallas. Mr. Blakeney left on No. 5 for Dallas, and will take the body to Paris, where the burial will occur this afternoon.
