Funeral services were held Monday for Abbie Leetta Padden at the Community Church in Frankville with Rev. L. L. Martin, pastor of the United Bretheran Church of Castalia, officiating. Burial was made in the
Frankville cemetery.
Mrs. Padden passed away at the home of her son, Francis Padden, in Postville on January 1. She was 89 years of age at her death.
Abbie Leetta Miller Padden, daughter of Oscar F. Miller and Lydia A. Beebe Miller, was born at Freeport, Iowa, July 9, 1859, and died at the home of her son, Francis Padden, Postville, January 1, 1949. Most of her life she has lived in Winneshiek county.
Early in life she became a member of the Methodist church and took a part in its activities. She was married to Romeo Padden April 8, 1886. Since his death about thirteen years ago, her home has been with her son Francis most of the time.
Surviving are her three children, Francis Padden of Postville, Herbert Padden of Waterloo, Lydia (Mrs. C. J. Jones) of Buena Park, California; three grandson, Oscar Padden of Dubuque, Lyle Padden of Kansas City, Richard Jones of Buena Park, California; five great grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Brouillet of Castalia, and Sarah Miller of Frankville.
