Mahala C. COLE was the daughter of Heneretta A. BUSCH and George W. COLE. A child with her name appears on the 1930 census living with Hattie and Nels HANSON, a couple in their fifties. Although listed as their daughter, it appears more likely she was their granddaughter. This family lived in Elkwood, Roseau Co, MN.

On 16 Dec 1936, at the age of 15 or 16, Mahala married Boyd Oliver GOODBOE, another MN native.
