Well Known Local Man Passes Away at Home on East Second Street Wednesday.
Thomas A. Prather, age eighty-one (Actual age was 71), a native of Kurtz and a life-long resident of Jackson county, passed away at his home, 508 E. Second Street, at 2:15 o'clock Wednesday afternoon following an illness of about two years.
Mr. Prather, a well known resident, was a member of the First Baptist Church and was a highly respected citizen. He was a member of the Houston Knights of Pythias lodge, the Norman Red Men's lodge, and the Seymour Haymakers lodge.
He was born May 1, 1864, the son of the late Silas and Sally Ann Prather. In 1890 he was married in Kentucky to Kizzie Kidd, who passed away in 1901. In 1905 he was married to Lottie Fish at Kurtz.
In addition to the widow he is survived by the following children of his first wife: Mrs. Harry Hubbard, Mrs. Trusten Edwards, William Prather and Mrs. Albert Vogel, all of Seymour; and the following children born to his second wife: Mrs. Ralph Endicott, Marshall, Ill.; Mrs. Frank Eder, North Vernon; Mrs. Francis DeHart, Cortland; Lillian, Mrs. John Dunn, Lois, Donald and Robert, at home.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home and at 2 :30 o'clock from the First Baptist Church in charge of the Rev. A. A. Cohn. Burial in Riverview Cemetery.
Friends may call at the home after 7 o'clock tonight.
