SARAH FRANCES "SALLIE" BAKER-LANGSTON was the daughter of SAMUEL BAKER & REBECCA EDWARDS-BAKER. There is much history on Rebecca Edwards and the long line of the EDWARDS family that she comes from. However for "Sallie's" father, SAMUEL BAKER, we are still doing research on him on a continual basis. There are many speculations as to his origins, however they are just that. Until DNA proof is available, naming them will just have to wait! What I can tell you is SALLIE was the 3rd child of 7 children born to Samuel and Rebecca, of which 6 were girls.

SALLIE was a young "31-yrs" old when she married DANIEL McKINLEY (MACK) LANGSTON, who was only 20 yrs old at the time of their marriage in 1855 in Perry, Crawford, Arkansas. Daniel is another family member where the "buck" stops with him and his brother at this time. We know that Daniel was a Confederate Soldier and Daniel's brother, Samuel Langston was on the other side of the coin as a Union Soldier.

SALLIE & DANIEL's marriage would produce the following 4 children:

1. HARVEY STEWART LANGSTON (1857-1954)
2. WILLIAM SAMUEL LANGSTON (1859-1909)
3. STONEWALL JACKSON (S J) LANGSTON (1862-1935)
4. REBECCA JANE "JENNIE" LANGSTON-MOORE (1867-1914)

These four children would produce a total of 38 grandchildren, most of them LANGSTON's. It would be HARVEY STEWART'S family that would move out to CALIFORNIA and start the large number of LANGSTON families in Central California.
