Charles Warner Penfold was born on November 2, 1895, in Westford, South Dakota, his father, Rufus Cyrus, was 41 and his mother, Victoria Marie (Michael) Penfold, was 33. He had two brothers and two sisters. Charles dropped out of school after 8th grade and his occupation in the 1920 Census was a laborer for the Sugar Mill, then in the 1930 Census, he is a Farmer as well as owning his own Farm. On 7 August 1918, He Enlisted in the U.S Army Infantry during WWI. Charles died on November 21, 1981, in Fort Morgan, Colorado, at the age of 86, and was buried there in Riverside Cemetery.
