Andrew Bedford Starritt was born Augst 4, 1929, in Sipe Springs, Texas. He was known to all as Andy. He was the youngest of eight children who were born to Ewin Calvin Starritt and Sara Jane Vinson. After attending school in Aspermont and Abilene, he enlisted in the United States Air Corps at the age of 16. After his discharge as a Staff Sargent in 1949, he settled in Odessa, Texas. While working for Southwestern Bell Telephone he was installing a telephone at the residence of Carolyn Roe Guice and fell in love. They were united in marriage in the spring of 1950. With the exception of living for one year in Houma, Louisana, he lived in Odessa for the next 29 years.

He had two sons. Calvin Glenn Starritt was born October 10, 1955, and Drewan Lee Starritt was born August 31, 1957.

He worked for Humble Oil and Refining for 15 years. His dream was to have a better life for his sons and he felt that was back in Texas. He left the security of his job with Humble and moved his family back to Odessa where he bought a grocery and feed business named Farmers Market. He worked endless hours to make it a success and opened other businesses during the years.

Andy was very involved in his community and many young men had their lives effected for good through his work with the Order of DeMolay's. He was very proud to be a 32nd degree Master Mason from the El Paso Scottish Rite Temple. He was also a member of the American Legion and the methodist church. Andy is remembered as a friend to many people. A person who had his priorities correct in regard to others. He made friends easily and was always willing to listen to others. Being generous to a fault, he could never say no to requests for help. Many persons who had been down and out were indebted to him.

He was a happy man, a talented man, a friend to all, and the recipent of a good and positive attitude.
