He was the son of John Ancrum Winslow and Catherine Amelia Winslow.
He was a descendant of Revolutionary War Patriot, John Ancrum (1724-1779), whose place of burial is unknown as of December 13, 2015.
On July 1, 1865 as William Randolph Winslow, he married Catharine P.S. Evelith in the District of Columbia.
They were the parents of one child.

William R. Winslow, Paymaster, United States Navy, whose death occurred at Washington on Thursday, joined the service in December 1862 and had seen four years and a half sea service. His last cruise expired at the beginning of last year. After that he was Inspector at Norfolk, Virginia. He was a son of Commodore Winslow, of Kearsage fame.

Death Of A Naval Officer
Paymaster William R. Winslow, of the Navy, died this morning at the residence of his brother-in-law, Mr. Everlette, on Ninth Street. His illness was of malignant scarlet fever and of short duration. The deceased was a son of Commodore Winslow, who commanded the Kearsage at the time of the capture of the Confederate steamer Alabama and at the time of his death he was stationed at Norfolk, but was in this city on a visit with his family.
