She was born in Ludlow Hospital where her grandfather took her home from as a newborn baby. Dorothy's biological mother Eleanor Agnes Bassett later married Ernest R. Hebert. Ernest and Eleanor (Bassett) Hebert had a son David Alan Hebert born in 1947 and he died Nov. 16, 1986.

She was born in Ludlow, MA on January 1, 1946 grew up in Westfield and was a 1964 graduate of Westfield High School. She worked at Providence Hospital for many years. She received her Bachelors Degree in Sociology from Westfield State College in 1993. Dorothy enjoyed geneaology and scrapbooking. She leaves her children William F. Hauschild Jr of Chicopee and David J. Hauschild of Westfield, her grandchildren Katelyn Laurin and Julia Hauschild. She was pre-deceased by her husband William F. Hauschild Sr. in 2007.
