Old Pottstown Citizen Passes Away in Milwaukee, Wis.
Former P & R Railroad Man
Reached the age of Four Score and Five- Absent from Town for Twelve Years - Charter Member of Stichter Lodge of the Masons

Samuel Lightcap Sr., a former and long-time citizen of Pottstown, died on Tuesday, at the residence of his son Samuel Lightcap, Jr. in Milwaukee Wis. He has been in Milwaukee for the last year and previously lived with his son Dutton Lightcap, at Briarfield, Ala. Mr. Lightcap reached the good old age of 85 years. His fatal illness was caused by paralysis and was of about one week's duration.
Until a dozen years ago, Mr. Lightcap was a citizen of Pottstown and worked for many years as a locomotive engineer on the Philadelphia and Reading railroad and later was employed as an engineer by the Pottstown Iron Company. His wife died in 1883 and several years later the husband departed to live with his sons. He was a charter member of Stichter Lodge No. 254, F.& A.M. which organized here about forty years ago. He was highly esteemed in all this section and the family although now considerably scattered, is widely known.
Mr. Lightcap leaves the following children: Mrs. Harry P High, of Norristown; Mrs. Frank Greth, of Lebanon; Samuel Lightcap, Jr., of Milwaukee, Wis., and Dutton Lightcap, Briarfield, Ala. He was a brother to Mrs. Sarah Wylie, No. 227 South street, this borough, and Mrs. Col. A.H. Tippin, of Philadelphia.
The body will be brought to Pottstown for interment and is expected to arrive tomorrow. Stichter Lodge will have charge of the funeral, which will be held on Sunday."
