Robert Lyttle Parker, was born near Franklin Grove, Illinois, August 13, 1851, the son of John Cox and Mary Ann (Irwin) Parker. He moved with his family to Lincoln County, Kansas, in 1871.

Robert L. Parker married Clara Jane Holcomb on July 3, 1875 at Lincoln, Kansas. The young couple moved out to a bare homestead where they started their lives together in a dugout on the prairie and eventually built a home there.

Robert filed for and was granted a homestead claim in Beaver Township. He was a farmer and also worked helping build the railroad through Lincoln County. According to the Lincoln County website, he was sheriff of Lincoln County from 1898 to 1900.

Robert and Clara were the parents of seven children; Tressa, Herma, Frank, Robert, Grace, James and Harry.

In retirement, Robert and Clara lived at apartments run by Dr. Cole. Robert died there December 23, 1933 and his wife, Clara, died 10 days later.
