Mary Ann Mahala Sikes was the daughter of Richard Sikes and Saleta Parmer. She married Charles Stewart about 1856, probably in Barbour County, AL and they had one daughter Eliza Jane Stewart born 1857 in Barbour County, AL. It is now know if Mary Ann and Charles Stewart divorced or he dies. Mary Ann, age 22 and her daughdter Eliza, age 2 is found on the 1860 census, Barbour County, AL in the hh of Mary Ann's parents Richard and Saleta Sikes.
On 14 March 1867 in Clarke County, MS Mary Ann
Sikes and N. B. Schrimpshire are united in Holy
Matrimony. She would present Newton with a family of 7 daughters and 1 son. They lived their lives out in Clarke County, MS until death claimed Mary Ann of 11 Feb 1919. She was laid to rest on 12 Feb 1919 in Elim Cemetery.
