He married Elsie Davis March 13, 1954, in Kingfisher. They made their home in Bison, where he worked in the oil fields and Bison-Waukomis co-ops for most of his life.
Surviving are his wife, Elsie, of the home; two sons, Ed McCartney and Calvin McCartney; three daughters, Debbie McCartney, Cindy Reed and Wanda McCartney; one brother, Chancy McCartney; one sister, Olive Schroeder; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, six brothers and six sisters.
