PIONEER WOMAN CALLED BY DEATH WEDNESDAY
Death claimed another truly old pioneer last Wednesday night, when Mrs. T. J. Randol came to the end of a well-spent and useful life in the Clovis Memorial Hospital.
She was 77 years old at the time of her passing.
Stricken last Christmas Day with a paraletic stroke, Mrs. Randol was taken to the Clovis hospital, where she lingered until last Wednesday. In her weakened condition, pneumonia developed, and claimed her in a few brief hours.
Mr. and Mrs. Randol came here in 1903 from Trent, Texas, and homesteaded on a claim four miles southwest of Texico, which place continued to be their home.
Mary Ellen Decker was united in marriage to Thomas J. Randol in 1899. To this union four children were born, all of whom survive.
Funeral services were conducted at the Church of Christ in this city Friday afternoon, and burial took place in the Texico cemetery under the direction of the Steed Funeral Home.
Minister L. C. Cox of the Church of Christ officiated at the services. The church was filled to overflowing with grieving friends and relatives who had come to pay their last respects to the grand old saint whose influence will never die.
She is survived by her husband T. J. (Uncle Tom) Randol; two sons, Sam of Farwell and Ebb of Muleshoe; two daughters, Mrs. Leona Osborne of Lynnwood, Calif., and Mrs. Gladys Johnson of Texico. Sixteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren are also survivors.
Active pallbearers were Leon Cantrell, Grayson Roberts, James Spurlin, Carl Davis, Preston Martin and Albert Martin. Honorary pallbearers were Perry Owens, Frank Curry, W. S. McDaniel, Frank Young, J. O. Landon and E. G. Blair.
