Funeral for Alberta Ezell, 77, Lawton, will be at 11 a.m., Thursday at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church, 1805 Jesse L. Davenport Ave., with the Rev. Tyrone E. Turner Sr., pastor, and James L. Newton, apostle, officiating.
She died Thursday, May 14, 2009, in Lawton.
Burial will be in Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, under direction of Jefferson Funeral Home.
She was born Dec. 1, 1931, in Okmulgee, to Goliath Drew and Hattie Mae McKinney. She attended school there. She married A.C. Ezell on Dec. 7, 1961, and moved to Lawton that same year. She was a homemaker and worked with a friend in a home daycare. She also served as a precinct official at the voting polls for many years. She was a member of Lee's Chapel, Powerhouse Church of God In Christ United, Faith Deliverance, Christ Holy Sanctified. For the last 18 years, she was a member of Another Chance Outreach Ministry, where she was a church mother.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law: Doretha and the Rev. Ed Roy Holloway, Dallas; and Angela Ezell, Lawton; two sons: A.C. Ezell Jr., Lawton; and Anthony Ezell, Oklahoma City; seven grandchildren: Finanita Smith, DeShun Smith, and Johnny Smith Jr., all of Dallas; Michael Richardson, Lawton; Latrice Smith, Houston; and Jasmine Johnson, and Dru Vance, both of Lawton; four great grandchildren: Keithon Smith, Nyiah Smith, Markiyah Smith and Jaylen Smith, all of Dallas; two sisters and a brother-in-law: Norvella Hennesy, Oklahoma City; and Elnita and Leon Cowans, Tulsa; three brothers: Dave Drew, Okmulgee; Elvin Hunt, Beaumont, Texas; and Charles Hunt, Tulsa; many nieces, nephews, godchildren, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four sisters: Bernice Jones, Ruth Gene Moses, Doretha Drew and Lillie Mae Drew; and three brothers: Jimmy Drew, O'Dean Drew and Elijah Drew.
