Mary Joann Blocker Chesser, 70, entered into rest on Saturday, May 16, 2009.

Ms. Chesser was born on August 6, 1938, in Bellville, Georgia. Of the Baptist Faith, she was a retired Computer Specialist from Northrop Grumman. She was preceded in death by her children, Richard Simmons and Carol Harbuck; and parents, Willie Blocker and Gladys Howington Blocker.

Her memory will forever be treasured by her children, Raymond Alan (Carol) Simmons, Warner Robins, and Janice Dulude, Byron; grandchildren, Rebecca Filion, Adam Faircloth, Jamie Heber, and Jared and Nicole Simmons; mother, Ada Mae Blocker Manassas; sisters, Nell Brown, Claxton, Alene Tootle, Claxton, Joyce Jackson, Cody, Wyoming, Martha Lott, Manassas, Reba "Bebie" Walter, Cody, and Delena Lamb, Claxton; brothers, Bill Blocker, Lancaster, South Carolina, Jimmy Blocker, Hagan, and Curtis Blocker, Manassas; and six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, May 19, 2009, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at McCullough Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 2009, in the chapel of McCullough Funeral Home, Reverend Phil Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens.
