Gordon Goodrich Markley, age 88, of Chiloquin, began a new life on Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at his Chiloquin, Ore., residence.
He was born on Sept. 16, 1920, in Seattle, Wash., to his parents David H. Markley and the former Alzena Goodrich.
Gordon served in the Marine Corps as a master sergeant from 1939 to 1947.
He worked for Pacific Telecom for 33 years and retired on Oct. 1, 1985.
Gordon enjoyed experimenting with electronics. He attended the Chiloquin Christian Center Assembly of God.
He is survived by Jennie Markley, his loving and devoted wife of 56 years; his daughters and sons-in-law Beth and Gale Hardman and Patty and Bob Rines; his son Gordon Markley Jr.; his sons and daughters-in law Tommy and Bobbie Markley and Jason and Cherish Markley; many grandchildren; and brother and sister-in-law Bob and Betty Markley and family.
The family wishes to acknowledge their special friend Dugan Moore.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and other relatives.
A Celebration of Life Service was held on Friday, May 15, 2009, at 1 p.m. in Davenport's Chapel of the Good Shepherd with Pastor Sam Seybold, Chiloquin Christian Center, officiating. Concluding Graveside Services with military honors followed at Klamath Memorial Park.
