Born by about 1597 (based on estimated date of marriage). Innkeeper who came to Massachusetts Bay in 1635 on the "Planter." (On 10 April 1635, "Alice Smith," aged 40, and "Jo[hn] Smith," aged 13, were enrolled at London as passengers for New England on the Planter).First settled in Watertown; moved to Winnissimmett by 1642, & Reading MA by 1646. Died in Reading 20 March 1649/50.
Married by about 1622 Alice _____.
In his will Francis Smith bequeathed to "my kinsmen Henery Bulflower & Beniamin Bulflower three pounds apiece when they come to the age of three & twenty years." On 21 January 1655[/6?], "Henery Bulflower" deposed that he was "aged about twenty-five years," and, on 3 April 1656, he deposed that he was "aged about twenty-six years," so he was born about 1630. On 3 February 1658[/9?], "Benjamin Belfloure" married "Abigall Moulton" at Reading, and so was perhaps born about 1634. Thus, both these men were at least a generation younger than Francis Smith.
