Evalina Caldwell, 91, of Arkansas City, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at the Presbyterian Manor Health Care Unit. A celebration of life will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008, at the Presbyterian Manor Chapel in Arkansas City.

Evalina was born March 9, 1917, in Ponce, Puerto Rico, to Irwin Caldwell and Lena (Schell) Caldwell. She attended York College in Nebraska and later nursing school in Denver. Evalina worked 12 years in Colombia for the Presbyterian Board of Missions. She also worked on reservations in Arizona and New Mexico before retiring from Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Evalina is survived by her two brothers, Howard Caldwell, of Ocala, Fla., and Avalo Caldwell, of Portland, Ore.; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Elward Caldwell and Lawrence Caldwell.

Memorials have been established with the First Presbyterian Church or the Good Samaritan Fund at the Presbyterian Manor. Contributions may be made through the funeral home Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home, Arkansas City.
