Kermit worked for 25 years as a welder,
retiring in 1976 from RexNord Family Rogers Iron Works
Joplin, Missouri

He also did tennent farming at the Grand Falls Ranch where he raised his children and lived for many years up until the time he died. Their home in early years was a small white stucco house just south of Grand Falls, south of Joplin, on the west side of the road with Shoal Creek running behind the house. They next moved north up the road to the large, 2 story ranch house of Tom Ashmore that owned the land Gus farmed and was a caretaker for.
