Years ago we hired a Scandinavian researcher at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah. She gave us the following information:
Maria Kathrine Olsen (Olsdatter)
b. 17 Feb 1839 in Eggeslevmagle,Soro,Denmark
She was christened in the same town on 9 June 1839.
Her parents were Ole Olsen and Karen Hansen (Hansdatter).
Her father, Ole Olsen, was one of the first Mormon missionaries into Norway. He was put in prison for six months for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.
They immigrated from Denmark into the port of New Orleans.
They took a paddle-boat up the Mississippi, and Ole died in St. Louis. His wife and son also died. We have found that Ole was buried in the City Cemetery in St.Louis, Missouri.
Maria was first married to 1) Peter Albert Nelson and later
married to 2)George Bouncer Higginson. She had five children by the first husband and three by the second husband.
