On June 30, 1907 Clyde Douglas Hatfield married his first wife Rhoda Mershon in Galesburg, Knox, Illinois. They had one child Hortense Evelyn Hatfield, m. name Richter. Rhoda's fate is unknown. Clyde married his second wife Nina Marie (Booth) Bowles on January 17, 1922 in Burlington, Des Moines, Iowa. Clyde was her third marriage.


Sergeant, 16th Co., 3rd Reg., Motor Machinists. Son of Mr. and Mrs. S.D. Hatfield; born Oct. 26, 1887, at Galesburg. Entered service at St. Louis, Dec. 13, 1917; to Jefferson Barracks; promoted to rank of Sergeant May 10, 1919; 19 months in the service; 12 months overseas; discharged July 12, 1919.


Word has been received here of the death of Clyde D Hatfield, 65, a former resident of Galesburg. Mr. Hatfield died Sunday at the Sawtelle Veterans Hospital in Sawtelle, CA. The body is being returned to the Hinchliff and Wilson Funeral Chapel where announcement of funeral arrangements will be made.

Funeral services for Clyde D Hatfield, 65, a former resident of Galesburg who died of a heart ailment, January 25, in the Sawtelle Veterans Hospital at Sawtelle, CA will be held Tuesday at 3:30 PM at the Hinchliff and Wilson Funeral Chapel. The Rev Frederick Gilson pastor of the First Baptist Church will officiate and burial will be in Linwood Cemetery. Mr Hatfield was born October 26, 1887 in Galesburg and resided here until moving to Los Angeles 15 years ago. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs Hortense Richter of Colorado Springs, CO; a sister, Miss Glada Hatfield and a brother, Forrest Hatfield, both of Los Angeles. An uncle, CG Fisher resides in Galesburg. The body will arrive here early Tuesday morning. There will be no visitation at the funeral chapel prior to the time of the services.
