EDWARD HARRY OVERCASH DIED THURSDAY MORNING

Was Prominent Contractor of the City - Funeral Will Be Held This Afternoon.

Edward Harry Overcash, a prominent building contractor of Charlotte, died yesterday morning at his home at 406 Elizabeth avenue, death being due to Bright's disease.

Mr. Overcash began to fail last fall. He was frequently confined to his house, but superintended many important jobs in and about the city. He was able to go on the streets until a few days ago. Yesterday morning he was taken much worse, and toward the afternoon sank into a stupor from which he never rallied.

Mr. Overcash was born in Cabarrus(*) county August 20, 1960, and was therefore in his fifty-seventh year. he came to Charlotte thirty years ago, where he had made his home ever since. he engaged in the contracting business shortly after moving here and in his long and successful career has erected many of the most important buildings in Charlotte.

He was twice married, his first wife being Miss Sarah (sic) Eagle, of Cabarrus county. To them were born two children both of whom survive. They are: Harry Overcash, of Baltimore, Md., and Walter Overcash, of this city. His second wife was Miss Ada Invine, who survives. The marriage occurred February 20, 1908.

He was a loyal and esteemed member of the First Associated Reformed Presbyterian church. An honest, upright citizen, Mr. Overcash was held in high regard by hundreds of citizens in both the city and the state.

Beside his wife and sons he is survived by four step children: D. W. Irvine, Cedarsburg, Va.; Mrs. H. C. Albright, of Richmond, Va.; Mrs. A. W. Holler and Mrs. I. C. Harrill, of Columbia, S. C.

The funeral will be held at the residence this afternoon at three o'clock Rev W. B. Lindsay, pastor of the First A. R. P. church, officiating. Interment will be in Elmwood cemetery.

Acting as pallbearers will be: J. A. Rucker, J. Y. Orders, R. W. Hunter, J. I. Blakely and S. W. Dandridge.
