Estella Long Barber was born Sept 4,1889 in Indiana, to Frank Long and Mary Elliott Long .
She married Arley Barber Sept 29,1909 in Hutchison County SD they moved to Owanka right after they were married. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1959. She said in her memories she was the " silent partner" in all the projects of her husband, she kept the home fires burning. She helped stack hay but mostly did indoor work.
Her husband died May 25, 1961.
Surviving are three sons Burton, and David of Owanka and Glen of Rapid City. Two daughters Mae Soreide of Denver CO, and Gladys Paulu of Prosser of WA, 18 grandchildren, 19 great grand childdren.
A daughter Opal Corwin also died in the flood and a niece Aral also died. She was also predceased by sons Kenneth and Paul and a grandson Milford Barber in 1959.
