WORLD WAR I VETERAN

Claude Paul Snyder was born at Colfax in Washington state, on 4 June 1896. He is the son of Charles I. and Clarissa (Davison) Snyder.

In Whitman County in Washington state, Claude enlisted in the United States Army. He served with the 166th Depot Brigade until being transferred on 18 January 1918. He then served with Company "K", 364th Infantry. Then in April 1919, he was reassigned to the 165th Depot Brigade where he remained until his discharge on 7 May 1919. Claude served overseas from 12 July 1918 until 13 March 1919. He was discharged as a Private, with a Silver Star Citation for Gallantry in action.

After being discharged, on 31 December 1920, at Lewiston in Idaho, Claude married Beatrice Cecile Stimpson.

On 30 December 1971 at the Washington Veterans Home, at the age of seventy-five, Claude passed away. He is buried in the home's cemetery at Retsil, Washington.
