MAHLON S. JONES DIES AT HOME OF DAUGHTER

Well Known Lansdale Sportsman Succumbs On Sunday

One of the oldest members of the Lansdale Gun Club and a great sportsman in his day, Mahlon S. Jones, died at the home of his daughter, Miss Clara Jones, of Susquehanna avenue, last evening. He was eighty-one years old.
Mr. Jones was one of the outstanding hunters and fishermen in this section of the North Penn during his forty years of residence in Lansdale. He was a carpenter by trade and was a familiar figure throughout the valley where his work carried him. Prior to his coming to Lansdale, Mr. Jones, with his family, lived in Bucks county, near Trumbauersville.
Until last Thursday, the aged man had been in apparently good health when he was stricken wit a stroke which caused his death last night at ten o'clock.
Besides his daughter, Miss Jones, with whom he made his home, Mr. Jones is survived by two daughters and two sons, Lillie, wife of Robert Murray, of Ambler; Cora, wife of James Metzger, of Bethlehem; Ira, of Lower Salford; and William, of Philadelphia. There are also nineteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Thursday.
