His obituary from the February 9, 1972 Courier-Journal published in Louisville, Kentucky:

Charlestown — William Rayburn Matthews, 59, of 107 Spring Street, died at 4 .m. Tuesday at Clark County Memorial Hospital.

He was a retired supervisor for Greater Louisville Industries and a member of North Charlestown Church of God.

Surviving are his wife, the former Margie Blanton; two sons, Jerry Matthews, Plymouth, Michigan, and William R. Matthews, Charlestown; three daughters, Vagil K. Matthews and Diana Matthews, both at home, and Mrs. Joanne Ferrel, Plymouth, Michigan; two brothers, a sister and 10 grandchildren.

Funeral, 2 p.m. Friday, Grayson Funeral Home. Burial, Charlestown Cemetery. The body will be at the funeral home after 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Because of incomplete information provided by the family of William Rayburn Matthews, two survivors were omitted from his obituary in yesterday's Courier-Journal. A daughter, Miss Bobbie Blalock, Garden City, Michigan, and a brother were omitted.
