Harry V. Banks, 73, who for many years played the violin for dances in Plainfield and the surrounding area, died at 8 pm. Thursday at Wild Rose Hospital where he was admitted two weeks ago. He had been a violinist all his life in addition to farming. A son Clifford is now manager of the Sunset Ramblers orchestra of Plainfield, and a grandson, Ronald Banks, manages the Uncle Ozzie orchestra which makes frequent radio and TV appearances.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm. Monday at the Plainfield Baptist Church, the Rev. Wendell Bennetts officiating. Burial will be in the Plainfield Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Goult-Patterson- Hardell Funeral home here after 2pm. Sunday and at the church after 11am. Monday.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Banks was born at Hancock May 16, 1891, and was married there to Hattie Rees on Nov. 23, 1911. In addition to farming he worked at the Hancock Creamery and at the Waupun condensery.
He is survived by his wife, two sons Clifford , Plainfield, and Donald, Beloit, a daughter, Mrs. James Wilson, Beloit, two sisters, Mrs. Viola Shafer, Plainfield, and Mrs. Dora Bartow, North Freedom,and a brother Melvin Banks, Redgranite. Eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, three brothers and three sisters.
