Funeral services with military honors for Theodore Lehr, 75, of the Washington Veterans Home, Retsil, will be Monday at the Retsil Community Church. He died Wednesday at the veterans home hospital. He was born June 23, 1898, Hutchinson County, South Dakota. Mr. Lehr served with the Army during World War I and II, and had resided in California and Sunnyside before coming to the veterans home in 1970. He was employed from 1949 to 1957 at the Boeing Company as a mechanic. Mr. Lehr was a member of the Retsil American Legion post. There are no known survivors. Burial will be at the Washington Veterans Home Cemetery.

Theodore Lehr was the first son of Andreas and Christina (Herr) Lehr. Theodore's father Andreas Lehr, age 6, arrived in Baltimore on May 19, 1876 on the Leipzig from Bremen, Germany with his father and older sister. The Lehr family were from Cassel, Gluckstal, Russia.

Andreas and Christina Herr married at Tripp, Hutchinson County, South Dakota in November of 1893. By 1900 they had settled in North Dakota and had at least nine children including Julianna Lehr; Bertha Lehr; Theodore Lehr; Ida Lehr; John Lehr; Agnes Lehr; Alice Lehr; Emil Lehr and Lucille Lehr. The burial places of Emil Lehr (1914-13 Jan 1969) and Lucille Lehr, Mrs. Loyd McDonald (1916-7 Nov 1988) are unknown.
