Lee Heflin had gone to Nashville, TN looking for work and was staying at a hotel there. He opened a door thinking it was leading to the bathroom but instead led into the outside--no stairs, no porch, just space. His leg was broken and had to be amputated. His sons buried his leg in the family section of Aurora Cemetery and no one seemed to remember where until a grave plot was dug for his youngest son, Frank. As they were digging the grave they discovered Lee's leg. Lee had a farm and had to plow his fields. He created a skid for his peg leg so he could farm his land.
