Thomas W. Summerhayes, 63, of 6314 Lafayette Rd. Raymond, died at 8:45 A.M. Sunday at home of cancer. He was born June 23, 1903, at Madison, Wis., the son of Walter and Pauline Strub Summerhayes. He married Grace Grover on July 6, 1923, at Mason City. They were divorced in 1951. Mr. Summerhayes was a car dealer for 25 years in Mason City, then was in the restaurant business in Tucson, Ariz., for several years. He came to Waterloo in 1960, and was associated with his sister Mrs. Bess Van Eman, in operating the Chesterfield Club. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church at Raymond. Mr. Summerhayes is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Shirley Lund, of 6314 Lafayette Rd., Mrs. Paul Callahan of Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. Fred Friedrichs, of Mill Brook, N. Y., a son John T. Summerhayes, of Lorimor; 13 grandchildren; one great grandchild; a sister, Mrs. Van Eman, of 6314 Lafayette Rd. and a brother, Donald J. Summerhayes, of 2024 Hammond Ave.. He was Preceded in death by his parents and a daughter. Services Will be at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Raymond. The Rev. Paul Grace, Pastor. will officiate, Rosary services will be at 8 P.M. Tuesday by the parish at the Oppold Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 P.M. Monday.
