Doris L. Houpt
Army veteran, Monon - area resident since 1958
March 27, 1905 - July 10, 1992
Monon - Doris L. Houpt, 87, Rt. 1, Monticello, died at 11 a.m. Friday at White County Memorial Hospital, Monticello, after a three week illness.
She was born March 27, 1905, Kentland to Lewis and Melissa Weber Kenoyer. She married Kenneth Houpt in 1950 in Fowler, and he survives.
She came to the Monon community in 1958 from Brook, and served in the Army in Europe during World War II.
She was a retired beautician who owned a beauty salon for eight years in Brook. She was an instructor at the South Bend Beauty School for six years.
She was a member of the Worldwide Church of God in Lafayette.
Surviving with her husband is a sister, Dorothy Meadows of Brook.
Three brothers and two sisters are deceased.
A graveside service with full military rites will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday at Riverside Cemetery in Brook with the Rev. Arthur Docken officiating.
Memorials can be made to the Worldwide Church of God.
Kellogg Funeral Home in Monon is in charge of arrangements.
