Mrs. Nancy Susan Offenbacker, 86, who has been in failing health for several years, died at 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 3, at her home on Route 2, Stanley. She was born February 24, 1878, at Stanley and was the daughter of the late John Thomas and Daisy Cave Thomas. Her husband, Richard Offenbacker, preceded her in death. She was a member of the St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Mrs. Offenbacker is survived by the following children: Moody Offenbacker, Mark Offenbacker, Mrs. Farry [Fairy] Meadows, Bertie Offenbacker, Mrs. Blanch Thomas, all of Stanley, and Mrs. Laura Weakley, of Silver Spring, Md.; sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Rube, Cleve and James Thomas, all of Luray. Four brothers and three sisters are deceased. The last rites were held in the chapel of the Bradley Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Dennis Whittle officiating. burial was in the Thomas Cemetery.
