Gilman W. Bates, age 86, of TR 228 Summerfield, Ohio, died Friday Morning (July 19, 2002) at his residence. He was born June 30, 1916 in Noble County, Ohio a son of the late Joseph and Violet Hague Bates. He was a WW 11 Army Veteran having served with the 101st Airborne Division in Europe and was a retired employee of the former Law and Sons Orchards near Mt. Ephraim. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Surviving are two sisters, Mary Oliver of Caldwell, Larua Kirkbride of Nashport, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. No visitation will be observed. Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday July 24, 2002 at Fredericksdale Cemetery near Sarahsville with Rev. William Pickenpaugh officiating.
