Rev. George Edward Pagans, age 81, of Rural Retreat, and formerly of Pulaski, died Saturday, November 19, 1904 in Wythe County Community Hospital. Born in Pulaski, February 14, 1913, he was the son of the late George R. Pagans and Lena Gibbs Pagans. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Weatherman Pagans, and a brother, Walter H. Pagans. He was a Methodist minister for 32 years, and retired from the Tazewell, TN, Circuit. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Baumgardner Pagans; one sister, Elizabeth Hubble, Pulaski; one step-son, Nelson Dunford, Rural Retreat; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Robert "Margaret" Musser, Rural Retreat; six step-grandchildren; one step, great grandchild. A funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from Thomas M. Seagle & Sons Funeral Home, with Rev. Buford Hankins officiating. Burial will follow in Thorn Spring Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hiwassee College Work Study Program, 225 Hiwassee College Drive, Madisonville, TN 37334. Friends may call any time Monday morning. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. time of service.
