SPRINGFIELD - Violet Marie Lewis, 90, of Springfield, Illinois was called home to the heavenly Father on Friday, May 8, 2009.
She was born on February 22, 1919, the daughter of Walter C. and Grace M. Randall Brodersen in Florance, MO. She married Charles Henry Lewis on June 4, 1939.
Violet was preceded in death by Charles on February 14, 1978; her parents, two sisters, Mildred and Glenna; and her granddaughter, Desiree Paige Firth.
Violet is survived by three children, Pamela Johnson of Springfield, Janice (husband, Gerald) Firth of Boise, ID, Judith (husband, Gary) Bales of Carbondale, IL; grandchildren, Jerusha Waitkus, Jason Firth, Kevin Bales, Suzanne Asaturian; great-grandchildren, Austin and Jordan Waitkus, Sarah and Mallory Asaturian, Charles, Courtney and Joshua Bales; and her beloved dog, Maggie.
A celebration of Violet's life will be shared at the First Christian Church, 700 South 6th Street, Springfield, on Friday, May 15, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation to follow, the Reverend Richard Irwin officiating.
A private family burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery on Monday, May 18, 2009.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church.
The services are under the direction of Bisch Funeral Home, 505 East Allen.
