Obituary...Red Oak lost this week another aged resident who had resided in this county for 67 years.

She was Mrs. Nancy Askey who had observed her 94th birthday on Sept 28. She died Tuesday morning of natural causes at her home 1211 Valley Street. For several years her health had not been good.

Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Boileau & Thomas Garden chapel, with Dr. Guy J Fansher in charge. Interment was made in Evergreen Cemetery, Red Oak, Iowa
Pallbearers were Avery Blank, Clarence Umphreys, Chris Nielson, Morris Kennon, Hans Marrin, Hugh Hossle, Albert Eshelman and Clinton Umphreys. Mrs R .E. Overholser and Mrs Fansher sang accompanied by Mrs Ray Cozad. On the flower committee were Mrs W.E. Hunter, Mrs Graces Culla and Miss Helen Taylor.

Mrs Askey daughter of Mr and Mrs George Walker was born in Clinton County, Pennsylvania on Sept 28, 1848.

She was married to Samuel Askey in Davis, Illinois on June 22, 1875. She came with her husband to Iowa in October 1875. They lived on a farm in Pilot Grove township until June, 1896. When they moved to Red Oak, Iowa. Mr. Askey died August 22, 1916.

Mrs Askey united with the Evangelical church in Dakota, Illinois at the age of eleven years. After coming to Iowa, she united with the Methodist church at Pilot Grove, center school house in 1876, and later with the First Methodist church in Red Oak, in 1897. She was a member of the Foreign Missionary society since 1897.

Mrs Askey was the mother of eight children two of whom Ada and Carrie Blanche died in infancy.

The surviving children are Mrs Viola Connick, Mrs Mary Mullen, Lucy Elizabeth, George R, Hugh James, and his twin sister, Mrs Helen Hossle, A step son Henry Franklin Askey son of Samuel and Mary(Polly) Askey. also survives fourteen grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and one great great grandchild survive her.
