J. Roy Peterson, 90, Apache Junction, AZ, died Friday, January 17, 1992, at Apache Junction. Funeral services were held Wednesday, January 22, 1992 at the Anderson Funeral Chapel, Alexandria, MN. Entombment will be at the Alexandria Kinkead Mausoleum.
He was born John Roy Peterson January 31, 1901 at Aneta, ND, to Theodore and Florence Bateman Peterson. His family moved to Enderlin in 1912, where he grew up and attended school. He attended Fargo Business School and later graduated from the School of Mortuary Science at the University of Minnesota in 1922. He married Ednah E. Douglass June 4, 1924 at Enderlin. They owned and operated the J. Roy Peterson Funeral Home at Enderlin until retirement in 1963. While a businessman in Enderlin he was a member of the Episcopal Church, North Dakota and National Funeral Directors Association, Enderlin Masonic Lodge, El Zagel Shrine, Kiwanis Club and Various Enderlin service clubs. Upon retirement they moved to Minneapolis, MN, later moving to Apache Junction to make their home.
Survivors include his wife, Ednah; two sons, Robert D., Fargo, and Charles R., Minneapolis, Mn; one daughter, Dorothy (Mrs. John) Kunz, Olivia, MN; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Paul.
