Cornelius is the son of Gideon Dunham & Mary Lewis Dunham.
He married Jemima Andrews February 2, 1764 in Southington.
He and Jemima were parents to nine children.

Cornelius was the owner of the first tavern in town known as "Dunham Tavern" and "Inn", in the north part of Southington on Queen St. He was known for his generous hospitality.
His son Chauncey kept the tavern after his fathers death.

Cornelius served in the Revolution.
